Experience counts when it comes to being a captain of a charter boat. When you charter the Samanna you are with one the most respected captains in the fleet. Huck Harriss has been working on the water since he was 18 years old. He has been a licensed captain for over 25 years and like most watermen, he feels at home out at sea. He respects and loves the ocean and hopes to shore this passion for the sea with every fishing charter he takes out.

Huck has been married to his lovely wife Patricia for 35 years and they have two daughters named Sam and Anna. Now you know why the boat is called Samanna (Sam & Anna).

Samanna Sportfishing Boat

The Samanna is a 53 foot Carolina Sportfisher built in 1990 by Gwaltney Boat Works located in on the Outer Banks in North Carolina. From 2006 till the early spring of 2007, the charter fishing boat was completely upgraded from top to bottom, inside and out. Starting with the outside, the entire boat was completely sanded and painted.

In addition, new outriggers, a new fighting chair and new teak cover boards were installed. The salon was gutted and redesigned. It is equipped with a microwave, refrigerator, CD and DVD player. All new state of the art electronics were installed. Fish Finder, Auto Pilot and a GPS/Radar. The final phase of the project was a new motor and generator. The motor installed is 1000 hp Caterpillar Model C18 and the generator is a 15kw Northern Lights.

The Samanna cruises at 25 knots getting you to the fishing grounds fast. The air conditioner will keep you cool in the salon after catching your limit of mahi in July. The heated cabin will keep you warm after wrestling with jumbo stipers in February. The tackle locker is loaded with everything from Penn spinning rods to 130 Penn Internationals. Also, new to the tackle locker is a kite rig. Wait till you see a 70 pound Yellowfin tuna come out of the water to crush a baited fish from the kite. The fish box is huge and we provide all the ice you will ever need to keep your sportfishing catch fresh.
